The location offers amazing views of the iconic old city. Breakfast included good gluten-free options that catered to various needs. Unfortunately, the furnishings seemed outdated and the room cleanliness left much to be desired, with noticeable dust accumulation. Despite the charm of the views, the musty smell in the bathroom and subpar service dampened the experience were nice.

Thoroughly enjoyed enjoyable and delicious breakfasts!!
We stayed here before now; the staff is competent and excellent and the rooms are nicely decorated. Booked a room with great views over the valley. Terrace and a couch were provided for a really great stay on holidays. The location was marvellous, near Casa Noha. Everything was simply good.

The location on a steep hill over the Sassi provided us with lovely views, especially from the terrace. We loved that it was easy to find parking nearby. The breakfast with delicious local foods catered perfectly to our family's taste.
Navigating the rocky roads and staircases can be challenging with young kids.

The view over the old town is magnificant. Sleeping in a cave is an experience, if you like the concept and smell. Breakfast had large variety and was very generous
The air condition did not work. Small shower. There is no car access to the hotel and the stairs are steep. It was difficult to find the hotel, as the signs are very small.

The hotel was set in a central area near to Matera Sassi and the central square. The staff was competent, always on hand when needed. I greatly enjoyed the breakfast choices, they were large and savoury.

Amazing views from the terrace
Waking up to the fine panoramic views was enchanting. The breakfast offerings were fresh and locally sourced, and the terrace views. The staff were always ready to assist, bringing warmth to our stay.
While the overall experience was enjoyable, we faced challenges with the narrow streets and finding parking nearby. It took some effort to navigate the historic area with our luggage.

The only good thing I cansay abaout the hotel was the location.
The room was full of mold and very damp. I asked to change the room, butit was all full. The dining room was also full of mold. This is not healthy and needs to be fixed.

Thoroughly enjoyed individual rooms.
The hotel had a very central position so close to the old Sassi, the train/bus station and caves in the Sasso Barisano district of Matera. It was right by Le Botteghe, where you can have dinner.

The room was spacious and offered fine views across the Sassi, particularly from the outside terrace. I enjoyed a hearty breakfast with plenty of fresh options to choose from. The location was fantastic, just a five-minute walk from the main square, made exploring the area easy and enjoyable. The staff was helpful.
Access to the hotel requires a bit of a trek with luggage.

OK, the location is great with a view over the Sassi and on the duomo of Matera. Mind you, by car Hotel Sassi is almost impossible to reach. Park your car at the edge of the old town and walk because there is no other way. Your reward is a spectaculair view especcially at night when al the town us illuminated. Disabled persons..this city (and hotel) mind form a challenge for you.

The hotel staff is very helpful and although we staied only one night they really gave us advice t experience the most of town. Our room was very big and had direct access to a big sunny terrace with amazing view over Matera. On top of that, breakfast is outstandig: they do coffee with a proper bar machine, brioches are twice the normal size (and full 3 times) and .. I have never had the option of (fresh) focaccia and pizza for breakfast - I will remember that breakfast forever!

Excellent location in the heart of the sassi. We had breakfast outside with incredible view looking over Matera. V sweet friendly desk staff.
Unfortunately, the room details were rather haphazard, clean etc but looking onto an unkempt abandoned courtyard, our door rattled when anyone went in/out of room next door, shower door didn't close properly, and the lighting was awful, bright overhead or bedside neon.
